A person’s weight and height can help begin a discussion about treatment. They do not describe the whole person or decide which medicine is appropriate. Hers’ own BMI information makes that limitation clear, while distinguishing injections from other medication options.
This guide explains how to read the published criteria and prepare a useful consultation. We checked the provider’s educational material and medical reference on September 23. There is no personal eligibility score here, and neither a calculator result nor a paid assessment guarantees a prescription.
What BMI and health criteria apply to Hers?
For weight-loss injections, Hers’ BMI guide describes 30 or higher, or 27 or higher with an eligible health condition. Other medicines can have different criteria. The guide cautions that its calculator cannot approve treatment. Ask the clinician to assess the actual proposed prescription and your health history rather than carrying a threshold from one medication category to another.
Bring more than a BMI number
Hers explains that BMI does not directly measure body composition and may be less informative in some circumstances, including differences in age or muscle mass. The clinician therefore needs the wider picture: current medication, other health conditions, past treatment, and how your health has changed. A screening chart cannot provide that context.
Make a list before the appointment and include prescriptions obtained through other websites. Discuss pregnancy or breastfeeding where relevant, previous reactions, and any questions about monitoring. Accurate information makes it easier for the clinician to explain the options. Trying to fit an intake threshold by leaving out details makes the assessment less useful.
Ask what the decision means for care and cost
If the answer is that the requested medicine is unsuitable, ask about the reason and any further evaluation or other approach worth considering. If treatment is offered, identify the exact product and follow-up. An eligibility conversation is not complete merely because a payment screen becomes available.
For someone moving from another provider, bring the current label and treatment dates rather than assuming a previous prescription is automatically continued. Separately request the total price and any membership requirement. Clinical prescribing, service availability, and an insurer’s coverage decision are related but distinct, and one favorable answer cannot guarantee all three.
Ask for a written treatment summary that you can share with your usual clinician, including the proposed medication, follow-up arrangements, and the contact route for any new concerns.
